Who is responsible
Morademia (morademia.com) is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].
Data about researchers
Profiles show researchers' professional, public record: name, ORCID, institutions, publications, co-authors, funders, venues and research topics. This data comes from OpenAlex, an open index of scholarly works published under CC0, and from the publications themselves. We do not collect private information about researchers, and we do not contact them to collect data.
From this record we compute indicators, such as ties with a country and a humanitarian impact score. The methodology explains each one. Indicators describe published work, not a person's character or views. Each statement on a profile is marked as a fact from a public record, an inference computed by us, or feedback from students.
Why we may do this: our legitimate interest, and the public's, in transparent information about publicly funded research and the people who lead it (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We limit profiles to professional activity. We refresh the data from new OpenAlex releases, so changes at the source reach Morademia.
Data about people who write a review
- Your email address is used once, to send you a confirmation link through our email provider (Resend). We do not store the address. We store only a keyed hash of it, so that one person cannot review the same researcher twice and so that we can limit abuse.
- Your IP address is not stored either. We store a shortened keyed hash of it to limit abuse.
- Your review: role, period, answers and the text you write. We publish reviews only after you confirm your email and a moderator approves the review, and only when a researcher has enough reviews to combine. Published reviews never show your name or email address. Whether you used an institutional address is shown as a yes or no.
Why we may do this: your consent when you submit the review (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), and our legitimate interest in preventing fake and duplicate reviews. You can ask us to delete your review at any time.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser keeps your settings and the advisors you shortlist in its own local storage. This data stays on your device.
Who else processes data
- Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks. It sees your IP address.
- Resend sends confirmation emails.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep data
- Researcher data: while it is in OpenAlex, or until we remove it after a request.
- Reviews: while the profile exists, or until you or the researcher ask us to remove them. We keep a backup of the review database for 14 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, and you can object to how we use it. Researchers can ask us to correct their profile, to add a response to reviews, or to remove it. Send your request to [email protected]. We answer within one month. See corrections and removals for how we handle them. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
